Con più di 285.000 membri in più di 185 paesi, il PMI è l'associazione leader nel campo del Project Management.

Il PMI è attivo nel supportare e stimolare la professione del Project Manager, definire gli standard professionali, condurre ricerche e fornire la via d'accesso alle preziose informazioni e risorse disponibili.

Il PMI promuove, inoltre, lo sviluppo professionale e delle carriere. Offre un portafaglio di certificazioni, opportunità di realizzare networking e community tra gli associati.

Infatti, con oltre 260.000 soci certificati, il Certificato Project Management Professional (PMP®) è la più ampia certificazione riconosciuta nel mondo nel campo del Project Management.

Per quasi 40 anni, il PMI ha stimolato quei professionisti che hanno fatto del Project Management uno strumento indispensabile per il loro successo.

La storia

Il PMI fu fondato nel 1969 da quattro pionieri che capirono il valore e l'importanza di fare networking, condividere informazioni sui processi e discutere sulle problematiche del project management.

Dopo il loro primo incontro ufficiale, in ottobre di quell'anno, al Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, il gruppo incorporò uffcialmente l'associazione a Newtown Square, Pennsylvania, USA.

Le statistiche rivelano che a gennaio 2008:

• Il 70 percento dei membri del PMI vivono in North America, con il 61 percento dei membri  negli  United States.
• Quasi 40,000 membri risiedono nella regione dell'Asia Pacific.
• I membri in Europe, Middle East e Africa (EMEA) sono quasi 30,000.
• Approssimativamente 10,700 membri risiedono nei paesi dell'America Latina e Caraibi.
• I local Chapter e gli Specific Gruppi di Interesse (SIGs) sono costantemente in crescita. Al momento vi sono 30 SIGs  che raprresentano un quasi tutti i campi industriali e 251 Chapters nel mondo.

Regional Service Centres

Il PMI opera su tre Regional Service Centres al di fuori degli United States. Per asssitere i membri nell'EMEA, il PMI ha un ufficio a Brussels, Belgium.

Our History

PMI was founded in 1969 by five forward-thinking individuals who understood the value of networking, sharing process information and discussing common project problems. After their first official meeting in October of that year at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, the group officially incorporated the association in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania, USA.

Global Reach

Regional growth statistics as of January 2008 reveal:

• 70 percent of PMI members live in North America, with 61 percent of our membership in the United States
• Nearly 40,000 members reside in the Asia Pacific region
• Members in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) number almost 30,000
• Approximately 10,700 members in Latin America and Caribbean countries.
• Our chapters and specific interest groups (SIGs) are constantly growing as well. At present there are 30 SIGs  representing a range of industries and 251 chapters around the world.

Regional Service Centres

PMI operates three Regional Service Centres outside the United States for the convenience of its members around the world. To help members in the EMEA region, PMI has an office in Brussels, Belgium, while its Singapore office assists members in the Asia Pacific region.  The office in New Delhi, India assists members in India.

Representative Offices

PMI offices in Beijing, China, and Washington, D.C., USA, allow the Institute to extend the scope and impact of its outreach and education.
