"Establishing and improving project management using assessment models for process capability and organizational maturity"

Presentazione

The tutorial will focus on the role of the project management processes within process capability and organizational maturity models.

These process assessment models are frequently used by organizations to assess and improve their lifecycle processes including primary (engineering) processes together with support and organizational processes.

Project management is an organizational process which frequently exhibits implementation weaknesses and is therefore a high priority in most improvement programmes.

At the same time it is interesting to note that improving the capability of project management processes has as an important side effect.

It enables the improvement of the general organizational maturity by increasing the capability level of all other lifecycle processes.

The tutorial will illustrate this important relationship which characterizes the most popular process assessment models: CMMI and SPICE.

A brief comparison with the PMI’s OPM3 model will also be made.
